Ness County Bank Building


Known at the "Skyscraper of the Plains" this native stone structure is the legacy left by N.C. Merrill. Built in the 1890's it stands as a tribute to the ingenuity, dreams, and culture of the settlers who built this wonderful structure. It now houses the Prairie Mercantile in the lower level. The Ness Chamber of Commerce is located on the main level.

 

 

Ness County Historical Museum


The museum features Ness City's first School House, local artifacts, a microfilm research library and history books. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

A Life size bronze statue of Civil War veteran by Harold Holden is surrounded by a patio paved with memorial bricks. This is the first statue of a Civil War veteran erected in Kansas in the past 60 years.

This memorial is a dedication to the valiant men and women who have served our country. The names are etched in granite to stand against time, so everyone will learn and remember.

Carver Homestead

1 1/2 miles south of Beeler Kansas (13 miles west of Ness City) is the homestead of one of the great scientists of America.
